Motorized Avalanche Level 1 Course - Buck Ridge (near Big Sky, MT)


Our Level 1 AAA accredited avalanche course teaches the essentials necessary to travel safely and confidently in avalanche terrain. This SPAE Level 1 course is orientated towards motorized users (snowmobilers & snowbikers).

Our Level 1 Avalanche Course teaches essential information necessary to developing the skills needed to travel safely and confidently in the mountains. The three-day course (24 hours of instruction) focuses on key points of avalanche education: avalanche terrain identification, mountain snowpack/weather, avalanche forecasting & problems, decision making and companion rescue. This course consists of both classroom and field sessions; SPAE understands the importance of hands on learning and spends 60-70% of the course in the field. Our Level 1 follows the guidelines set by the American Avalanche Association (AAA). Our instructors are experienced avalanche educators who provide the highest level of expertise. This course is the perfect stepping stone to more advanced training in the future.
