Snowpits and Stability Tests - Free Online Talk
As you know, this winter has been unusual, which has created an unusual snowpack. As we turn the corner towards spring, we are likely to see unusual avalanches. Keeping your avalanche radar powered up will be important as conditions change. One tool in the avalanche toolbox is using snowpits and stability tests to help understand a complex, layered snowpack.
Join Eric Knoff, former GNFAC forecaster and avalanche educator, for a focused talk on when, where and why to dig snowpits. Stability tests, including the Compression Test (CT), Extended Column Test (ECT), and Propagation Saw Test (PST) will be discussed and demonstrated in videos. The second half of the talk will be focused on current snow and weather conditions.
Eric Knoff is inviting you to a scheduled Zoom meeting.
